The National Agriculture Land study was enacted in 1980-81 in response to mitigate socioeconomic effects of federal government activity that promotes the conversion of dual farmland to industrious cities and suburbs (Farmland Protection Policy Act, n.d). The USDA reports Following these events led to the Agriculture and Food Act that was enacted in 97-98; it outlines protection for farmlands in the Farmland Protection Act (FPPA). The FPPA was written with the concern that federal agencies were increasing making needless and unalterable decisions to expand cities ; thus the development encroaches on vita farm land used to sustain the nations food consumption and the ecosystem.
It is in my opinion that the FPPA must and should answer to the EPA, it is evident that environmental work is considerably interdisciplinary thus having separate laws to hold the agricultural community to a higher standard is ideal.
