By happenstance, I came across an interview with Peter Robinson at the Hoover Institute with Libertarianism scholar Milton Friedman in which Friedman lays out his views on federal government structures. Milton goes over 14 agencies within the federal government and says whether to keep or abolish them. Interestingly, Milton states that the Department of Health and Human Services is a research agency and that there may be a reason not to abolish it entirely based on the need to keep them operational to serve as federal government research agencies on the people.<\/strong><\/pre>\n\n\n\n\nPeter Robinson: Department of Health and Human Services?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Milton Friedman: There is room for some public health activities to prevent contagins such as thing for example<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter Robinson: So you would keep the national institute of health and center for disease control?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Milton Friedman: Those are mostly research agencies, no no that’s a question whether the government should be involved in financing research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter Robinson: And the answer is no?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
